Brussels hub
In Brussels, we support women who find themselves in vulnerable or precarious situations. Many of the women we help have experienced domestic abuse, human trafficking, in sex work, exploitation, poverty, or are navigating the asylum process.
We are here to listen to your story, understand your needs, and help you find safety and support. We also aim to create a safe and welcoming community where women can build trusting relationships and support one another.
How We Support You
When you come to Oasis, our focus is on you and your wellbeing. We provide a range of services to help women regain control of their lives:
Welcoming and listening: We provide a safe, confidential space where you can share your story.
Social work support: Our team accompanies you to appointments with the police, social services, doctors, or other institutions, explaining the system and your rights.
Legal support: We run a biweekly free legal drop-in, offering advice on family law, immigration, and other legal matters.
Psychology support: We provide individual free psychological support and counselling, helping women process trauma, regain confidence, and build resilience.
Support groups and workshops: We organise regular workshops, activity days, and support groups to connect, learn skills, and build confidence. These spaces are also opportunities to meet other women and create trusting connections.
Holiday activities: During school holidays, we run activities for women and their children, creating opportunities for fun, connection, and support for the whole family.
Culturally sensitive guidance: Our team speaks French, Dutch, English, Thai, Portuguese, Spanish, and Arabic, we can also try to find translators to help us with other languages to help you feel understood and supported.
Safety planning: For women experiencing domestic violence or exploitation, we provide guidance and help create personal safety plans.
Specific Projects
The Welkom Project: specialized support to women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
Supporting trans women: We run a dedicated project to support trans women who have experienced violence and abuse.
Supporting Palestinian families: The project is called Ghaith Al-Nas. We accompany Palestinian families newly arrived from Gaza, helping them navigate the Belgian system and access medical, social, and legal support.
Our Goal
Our mission is to empower women to move towards freedom, safety, and independence. We also aim to create a safe, supportive community where women can build trusting relationships, connect with others, and feel understood.
Whether you are escaping trafficking, abuse, or exploitation, navigating life in a new country, or seeking support for yourself or your family, Oasis Belgium is here to support you every step of the way.
