Social work Intern

Location : Brussels
Length: 3-6 months

Language : English & French or Dutch

🎯 Main Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the team, the intern will support the daily activities of a nonprofit service dedicated to assisting women who have experienced gender-based violence.

The intern will assist with:

  • Providing first-line support to women seeking help through the project

  • Supporting the management of requests received via the helpline, social services, police services, embassies, and partner organizations

  • Helping women access appropriate social, legal, and medical support

  • Contributing to emotional support and guidance during the accompaniment process

  • Assisting with translation or interpretation support when relevant

  • Supporting administrative follow-up, file tracking, and internal coordination

  • Helping the team prepare information, referrals, and practical guidance for beneficiaries

The project supports women in Belgium who have experienced gender-based violence, with specific expertise in supporting Thai women.

👤 Ideal Candidate

  • A student in social work, social sciences, psychology, public health, law, international relations, or a related field

  • Interested in supporting women affected by gender-based violence

  • Sensitive to issues related to vulnerability, migration, social exclusion, and access to rights

  • Able to listen with empathy, discretion, and professionalism

  • Organized, reliable, and attentive to detail

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

  • Able to work independently while being part of a team

  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch

  • Knowledge of Thai or another relevant language is a strong asset
